Safety at Stumpy’s is our highest priority. This is a very controlled environment, and each person entering must go through a brief training session. Throwing coaches will instruct you on how to throw safely and will monitor the game. By following our rules and procedures and exercising common sense, you will enjoy a safe and fun hatchet and axe throwing experience at Stumpy’s!
WHAT IS CONSIDERED APPROPRIATE ATTIRE?
Be comfortable – it’s a sporting event! During the warmer months, we recommend dressing in loose, cool clothing. Chill in the air? We do keep it cool, so a flannel, sweater, or sweatshirt is a good idea. For safety purposes, we don’t allow open-toe shoes or sandals
CAN I BRING/THROW MY OWN AXE?
No, you cannot bring your own axe or hatchet. (Sorry!) Our insurance policy requires all of the axes and hatchets to be supplied by us.
WHAT IF MY GROUP DOES NOT FOLLOW THE RULES PUT IN PLACE BY STUMPY’S HATCHET HOUSE?
Stumpy’s reserves the right to terminate any guest’s experience if the rules aren’t being followed.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
Will you teach me how to throw? Upon arrival, everyone will check in with the front desk then head into our training room to fill out waivers (or you can fill yours out beforehand here). One of our throwing coaches will go over the rules with you in the training room, then take you to your private pit to give you a demonstration. Our coaches will make sure you are getting the hang of it and having a kick axe time! Our throwing coaches are always around to help give tips and ensure a safe time for everyone.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE FOR AXE THROWING?
The minimum age requirement for axe throwing at Stumpy’s Green Brook is 10 and over with a parent/guardian. This applies at all times except Saturday evenings after 7pm, when the minimum age is 15 and over.
PLEASE NOTE: We are a BYOB venue and have a zero-tolerance policy for underage drinking!
HOW DOES PLAYING START?
After about initial training, most guests are hitting the target and honing in on the bullseye. When the group feels ready, it is encouraged to try a variety of hatchet and axe throwing target games. Instructions are in the pit, or you can ask a throwing coach.
DO YOU SELL FOOD OR DRINKS AT STUMPY’S?
Yes! We sell light snacks such as chips, pretzels, etc. We also have soft drinks, water, iced tea, and Red Bull available for sale. Our location is currently BYOB – beer or wine, seltzers only – and we have buckets of ice to keep ’em cold for you.
DO YOU OFFER CATERING?
Our experienced Event Coordinators will assist you with catering recommendations from local vendors that have plenty of experience working with us at Stumpy’s. We provide paper plates, cups, utensils and all of the extras to make it a seamless event. We also sell light snacks such as chips, pretzels, etc. We love supporting local businesses and if you have a preferred vendor, please invite them to cater your event!
DO YOU TAKE WALK-INS?
Walk-ins are always welcome when throwing pits are available, but reservations are highly recommended. Our reservation system lists available timeslots however if you do not see the date and time available, please call or click on our inquiry link to verify as our team is super accommodating and would love to help. 732-529-6330
CAN PEOPLE COME WATCH?
Of course! Non-throwers are allowed to come join the social throwdown, though we will ask them to pay $15 plus tax. With that being said, the rule still applies that all Stumpy’s guests must still meet the minimum age requirement of 10, whether they are throwing or not!
DO YOU HOST KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTIES?
Of course! Ages 10+ are our sweet spot and we offer fun games, great training and local pizza recommendations, and zero stress for parents!
IS THERE A DEPOSIT AND CAN WE BOOK ONLINE?
Yes there is a deposit that is required when booking events to secure your preferred date and time, however walk-ins are welcome if space permits. Online bookings are available 24/7 at stumpysgreenbrook.com or call 732-529-6330
